"Local artist Alistair Parker is doing his bit to keep Blackpool on the artistic world map. His work Three Faces of Blackpool was runner up in international art competition Make Your Mark and is being exhibited at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London, the home of the Federation of British Artists. Art materials supplier Daler Rowney, runs until Saturday..
Alistair who is based in Poulton was a finalist in the international competition from an entry of over 1400 artists. Romero di Girolamo, president Royal Society British Artists, said:
"This new competition demonstrates that art is thriving all over the world. The standard of entries was exceptionally high and to have entries from five continents means the competition is truly international."
A full time student on the BA Fine Art course at Blackpool Art School, Alistair's unusual images of Blackpool are a mix of photography, digital art and a transfer printing process which results unique piece of fine art. Alistair is no newcomer to London, his work was a sell out al last year's London Affordable Art Fair. Frederic Pinton, winner of the Leisure painter category, arrived with great satisfaction of the whole event, and was extremley pleased to see his wonderful painting, hanging in a prestigeous gallery like The Mall Galleries in London.
Frederic's painting received a great deal of attention which was very nice to see. Frederic travelled from South of France to view his painting, and had a great day in London.
In August Frederic will be off to the Dominican Republic for 1 week, to spend a relaxing break and painting workshop provided to him by Daler-Rowney.
